Well, you ve broken your laptop screen and can t afford to buy a new laptop or pay a technician to install a laptop replacement screen. Don t worry, in less than 30 minutes from the time you receive your laptop replacement screen, which in most cases is only a couple of days, you can have your laptop up and running.
While it may seem an impossible task, especially if you don t know computers well, it s really not that difficult. All you have to do is know your way around a few minor tools. All you need is a screwdriver and maybe an exacto knife to get off those little rubber grommets. Make sure your laptop is unplugged and the battery is removed.
First you remove the little rubber and plastic grommets. Then you can unscrew the screws from the display. The frame around your screen is called a bezel. With some mild pressure, so you don t break the bezel, you can pop it right off the display by working around the edges. If you can t, then there may be another hidden screw, be sure to check the sides of the display for those. You may also need to work it from side to side a bit. You can usually find from four to six screws on a display screen. Once you have the bezel off, you can tip the screen forward enough to remove the screw holding it to the bracket. If there s a piece of tape securing your video cable, lift it up. Then use your finger to slide the video data cable from the data connector port. There will be an inverter back there, so find it and use your thumb nail to slide out the inverter cable plug. You re screen can now be removed. To get your laptop replacement screen back on, just reverse the process.
A computer can be a daunting piece of equipment. However, like a car, there are some things you can do at home to save yourself some money. Be sure to shop around for your laptop replacement screen. You may be able to find it for as little as $300, which is a tremendous savings. You ll pay much more for a new laptop or even to get a technician to repair it. If you want to be sure that it s only the screen that s broken before shelling out any money, you can hook your laptop up to any desktop screen. If you re getting a good picture, then it s most likely your laptop screen and you just need to order the laptop replacement screen to fix it.
